Heald's Pre-Posterous

Reflections

One of the things that is entertaining about the latest crop of big cruisers is the chromed fishbowl that is the headlight nacelle. It is much like a stone of Orthanc, in that many things can be viewed. In this case, I saw a strange statue and a dinosaur I had no idea was roaming around the compound.

A new 'Bird is hatched

"See Johnny back him down?" This famous bit of moto-dialogue comes from one of the most iconic motorcycle movies of all time. The Wild One starred Marlon Brando and his Triumph 6T Thunderbird back in the 50’s, and the new 2010 Thunderbird takes the basic bike concept, more than doubles the engine size and gives the machine a more cruiseresque demeanor. I’m spending quality time with Johnny’s new ride and shall have reviews up in various outlets soon. Wanna see Johnny go?

Z Thing to drive

Back when I was younger than I am now (which seems impossible, given my current middle-aged charm) I was hot for the Datsun 260 Z. Slowly but surely, Nissan has been fighting to get back some of that car's brilliance. The 370Z is sacrilege in some ways, but overall does grab some of the minimalist glory of the past Z car. Good fun.

Geee

This plucky little Infiniti G37 Journey (with the "S" package) is a really interesting compact/midsized machine. It's comfortable and taut, but most of all a rocket. I managed a 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds, and 60-0 braking was about 118 feet. That's quite impressive in what looks a bit like a sleeper. True, $42K is a lot of lucre, but it is a nice package.

France?

I love this. When Daytona Motorsports group assumed the running of the AMA Pro Roadracing operation last year, new President Roger Edmondson described Jim France (DMG owner) as "The most ordinary billionaire I've ever met."

This comment creeped me out when he said it, for reasons I have no explanation for, really. But he was right. I mean, how much more of an ordinary billionaire can you be when your son gets busted for crack while racing his Lamborghini?

Too Much, man

This bee was so happy at what he found in the garden, I think he passed out. "I'm Sooooooooo full you guys."

Daily Art

There is, indeed, a very good thing about having a camera with a phone stuffed in it. Not only can you capture Evil if needed, but you can also grab some of that stuff that just happens to express itself in front of you as you're going through the day. I walk by this pond most days, and like everything else in New England it seems to change from day to day. Sometimes it's pretty scummy and unattractive (although even then it can be picturesque in its own way at times), and other days it will do something like this.

A Grand Device

This here box-like device that is attached like a symbiote to our roof is a solar-powered attic vent. When the sun is shining, and thus cooking the roof, it fires up and a blower fan helps remove hot air from the attic, thus helping to cool the house. Fully self-contained, and simple yet elegant and seems to really help when you need it most, i.e. hot, sunny summer days. It's not cheap, but is basically a zero-maintenance device. If you live in the sun belt, I'd buy two.

The Way it Must Be

Can't own a proper British motorbike w/o stopping for a proper spot o' tea. We did so today.

What The. . .

So, if I am now part of posterous, does this mean I used to be pre-posterous?
